Performing Arts Assistant Director

Location: Attard, Around Malta
Contract: Full-Time (or substantial part-time, minimum 3 days per week / Job Share)

We are now seeking a passionate and driven Performing Arts Assistant Director to join our growing team in Attard.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator and creative leader who enjoys balancing hands-on teaching with leadership and operational management.

The role combines approximately 50% teaching and creative delivery with 50% administrative, strategic, and operational leadership in support of the Academy Director.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations (approx. 50%)

  • Support the Director in the development, management, and daily operations of the Academy.

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day administrative tasks, including responding to enquiries, emails, customers, and third-party partners.

  • Lead and maintain the administration office, ensuring efficient organisation and upkeep.

  • Work closely with the management team to plan and implement development strategies, projects, and marketing initiatives.

  • Contribute to business development, growth planning, and community outreach activities.

  • Support budget and scheduling processes where required.

  • Serve as a point of contact for schools, partners, and stakeholders, promoting the Academy’s values and professionalism.

Teaching & Creative Delivery (approx. 50%)

  • Teach engaging, high-energy drama, musical theatre, or dance classes across a range of ages and ability levels.

  • Co-develop and deliver new productions, workshops, and creative initiatives in collaboration with the production development team.

  • Plan and deliver inspiring lessons aligned with the CrEd curriculum and the Academy’s ethos.

  • Support tutors and students in rehearsal, performance, and creative projects.

  • Contribute to the artistic vision and growth of the Academy’s programmes through creativity and innovation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience teaching Drama, Theatre, Dance, or Performing Arts within an academy, theatre, or educational environment.

  • Strong leadership and administrative skills, with experience managing projects or supporting business operations.

  • Confident, energetic, and collaborative communicator with excellent interpersonal abilities.

  • Experience developing creative programmes, productions, or community projects.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Relevant qualification in Drama, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, or Education (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience within an educational or performing arts institution is a strong advantage.
